are you a herbivore or a carnivore?

Herbivorous men [sōshoku danshi - 草食男子]:

Coined in 2006 by author Maki Fukasawa, this term refers to an emerging breed of man whose passive nature stands in stark contrast to conventional notions of masculinity. Typically in his 20s or 30s, the herbivore doesn’t earn much money, spends little, takes a keen interest in fashion and his personal appearance, and does not aggressively pursue “flesh” (i.e. romance and sex). Friendly and home-oriented, he tends to favor cosmetics over deluxe cars and would rather eat sweets at home than treat his girlfriend to dinner at a fancy restaurant.

Herbivorous/carnivorous [sōshoku-kei/nikushoku-kei - 草食系/肉食系]:

Where the herbivorous man is passive, the so-called “carnivorous woman” is aggressive. The words “herbivorous” and “carnivorous” have come to denote one’s level of passiveness or aggressiveness, particularly with respect to sex and romance.

PETA Thanksgiving Day Commercial BANNED

This (awkward) commercial was banned from airing on NBC during the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.

Hate to post this up so close to American Thanksgiving... but then again I am Canadian and also vegetarian..

chanel

Chanel Ready-To-Wear Spring-Summer 2010 Fashion Show included the "reporduction of a farm scene complete with barn, haystacks, and flower farlands in the heart of the Grand Palais, using Fragonard's artworks and Marie Antoinette's Hamlet at Versailles as [Karl Lagerfeld's] inspiration"

If you ever wanted to experience being a model strutting the catwalk (or in this case, a very elaborate barn) click here and scroll down til you get to the "SPY CAMERA" segment. Kinda cool.

Alsooooo... check out this trippy website:

yelp meets twitter

I just opened a Foursquare account, supposedly the "Twitter of 2010.” When I tried to add friends via my Facebook account, only 1 was registered with the site (that’s 1 out of 717). It'll be interesting to see how quickly this changes... if at all.

Foursquare is much like twitter, except instead of just tweeting whatever comes to mind, you use it to “check in” at various locations to let friends know where you are, around respective cities. It’s more to promote businesses and activities by letting friends know what’s fun and interesting to do:

"Foursquare ventures beyond utility, however: It's a virtual game in which participants earn badges for checking in at various locations; those that check in most become a venue's "mayor." By all accounts, this mechanism is as addictive as Twitter, Facebook or checking your e-mail on a BlackBerry." (read full article)

I really cannot see another social networking site overshadowing Facebook, since they are forever changing and updating their design to keep up with emerging platforms. The only possible business plan is not to compete, but complement. I think foursquare emulates this model, much like Twitter does.

So is it the new Twitter? I don’t care really. For now it’s another procrastination device during exam finals.
